Join Us for an Inspiring Women’s Soil Health Workshop!

Tamworth Regional Landcare Association, in partnership with Climate Friendly, invites you to an engaging and informative Women’s Soil Health Workshop. This hands-on event is designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge to enhance soil health, boost farm productivity, and contribute to sustainable land management.

Why Attend?
Soil is the foundation of productive and resilient farming. Understanding its composition and health is key to improving water retention, increasing biodiversity, and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices. This workshop offers practical insights and demonstrations to help you assess and improve your soil’s quality, making your land more productive and drought-resilient.

What to Expect
Participants will gain hands-on experience conducting soil and water tests, learning from a panel of esteemed experts in the field. Expect a day of discovery, practical demonstrations, and meaningful discussions with like-minded women passionate about sustainable agriculture. Bring your own soil and water samples for on-the-spot testing and analysis!

Meet Our Expert Speakers

🌱 Dr. Robert Banks – Certified Practising Soil Scientist (CPSS)
Dr. Banks, Director of SoilFutures Consulting, brings over 30 years of expertise in soil science, geomorphology, and sustainable land management. Based in the Liverpool Plains, he has worked extensively with farmers and community groups to develop drought-resilient systems and improve soil productivity. He will introduce participants to different soil types and explain how soil composition impacts plant growth and farm productivity.

💧 Anne Michie – Soil and Water Testing Specialist
Anne is an expert in soil and water assessments and will guide participants through hands-on testing methods. She will demonstrate how to analyse soil and water samples on the spot, giving attendees practical skills to assess soil health and make informed farming decisions.

🌿 Dr. Aurelie Quade – Soil Health and Carbon Specialist
Dr. Quade will dive into the importance of soil carbon levels and their influence on soil fertility and sustainability. She will explore how carbon sequestration can improve soil structure, increase water retention, and support long-term farm viability.

After years of advocacy, the NSW Government is finally reviewing the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998 — and your voice is urgently needed to help protect our native wildlife from the impacts of free-roaming pet cats.

🦘 Why it matters:
This outdated law currently prevents local Councils from setting and enforcing cat containment policies, leaving cats to roam, kill native wildlife, and spread diseases like toxoplasmosis. It’s time for a law that reflects modern expectations of responsible pet ownership.

Volunteer Landcare and Grassroots Community groups can apply up to $2,500 for activities that meet an objective of TRLA’s strategic plan with eight successful projects being awarded funds from across the region.
